Fan Faire 2003 - Chicago

I had an impression of what gamers looked like. I expected all men, and all geeks. I was half right.

Walking in I called Glaur, and found him and Giggs and a few Rutabaga's at the bar. We went up to the big room with phat lewts for sale and saw lotsa people...playing EQ....

Why would you go to a far off land to log in? Very interesting. Don't let this picture fool you. Yes we were all nerds, but there were some actual women there. I would say almost half even. Alihja was filming, so we should be seeing a film next week of us all being silly. Here Giggs and Alihja encounter a barbarian with a digital camera.

So Dindas had large amounts of drinks up in his room so I migrated there with the Rutabaga's and Glaur.

Vegann has a totally cool shirt. Dindas is striking a pose. Alihja is drinkin...

Alihja wrote down her room number in case she got so drunk she forgot it.

We then all ate food, hot dogs for $10 and such.

Then we cruised around and went to some kinda reception thingy. Below is a pict of the only "uber guild" I saw.... Afterlife with their goat:

Tharkis was spending his time between Stormhammer people and us.

They did this gift give-away with different names up on the screen. It would scroll through them all and stop on a random one, most of which started with A or Aa. Then this one came up.

The guy hosting the event was really funny and said "The good news is you get a prize, the bad news is there are 50 GM's here!" It was nice to see all the employees of SoE having as much fun as anyone.

Giggs won a shirt...and look at what it said on it!

Povar chants at every fan faire louder than anyone. I was very funny. Everyone was having a blast, there were stormhammer jokes, no one used RL names, and lotsa drunks.

I left before the big costume contest, but they were starting to come out of the woodwork....

So it was a lot of fun. I only went for a night, I can't imagine spending a whole weekend without all my Phankers. So next time I will bring you all for reals! We will hang out with the crazy Rutabaga's and all be happy.
